English with Mrs. Kycia

WELCOME TO MRS. KYCIA'S ENGLISH WEBPAGE!

ekycia@nwr7.org

Welcome back for another fun-filled year in English.  This year we are going to start off with a bang with Greek Mythology!  We will read and have discussions about many different Greek myths as well as learn about all the gods and goddesses.  Well, maybe not all of them.  If Greek mythology interests you, I would suggest you read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan.  You will see very humorous and clever allusions to Greek mythology in these books.

We will continue our study of persuasive writing and editing and revising.  Persuasive writing is a very important form of writing because you will keep using it throughout your life.  Whether you are writing a paper for school or a letter during your future career, you will find that the fundamentals you were given in seventh and eighth grade will help you become a great persuader and writer!

In addition, we will be studying another Shakespeare play, Much Ado About Nothing.  Make sure you all brush up on your Shakespeare facts and get ready for some reader's theater!  So, sit back and enjoy the ride in your eighth grade English class!
