The school counselor is your child’s advocate.  Together the student and his/her counselor work to better understand how abilities, interests, and personality help to define long-term goals, and to develop ways of attaining them.  The school counselor provides:

  • Transitional activities:   helping to make the transition from elementary school to middle school a positive and productive experience

  • Individual and group counseling:   providing guidance to students needing academic, emotional, or social support

  • Academic planning:  utilizing interest inventories, achievement scores, academic progress, student, parent and teacher input we help students to determine their ninth grade course selections, or go on to other private or technical schools

  • Career awareness and planning:   helping students to make associations between personal interests and career opportunities

  • Communication, decision making, problem solving, and conflict resolution

  • Academic assistance:   helping students to access school resources when they need academic or emotional support

  • Interacting with team teachers, parents, and support staff to help monitor academic, emotional, and social progress.   We attend PPT’s, parent conferences, and are case managers for 504 students
