Overview of Curriculum This Week:
In English class students will continue to practice writing in their writing journals every day on the topic of their choice. Students are reminded to chunk their writing throughout the week and not wait until the night before to write 10 pages. This week students are also revising their memoirs, focusing on incorporating thoughts and feelings into their stories. Students are reminded to bring the Norman Rockwell field trip permission slip and money to English class as soon as possible.
In math class students we will be finishing the unit on number sense, patterns and algebraic thinking with a test on Chapter 1. On Thursday and Friday, we will have a pre-test on decimal operations, followed by an introduction to the decimal unit, reinforcement as necessary on decimal operations, scientific notation.
In 7th grade reading class we will be working on students reading to their abilities. Students need to embrace the fact that reading is a large part of the class, and that they are expected to do their best at all times. Their very first word stem quiz is on Friday. It should be an easy one with only nine word stems. They do need to study those word stems to be sure they know and understand them and how they are used in creating words.
In science class students will be working on continuing collecting data for the pendulum lab. When they have finished collecting their data they will have to write a completed lab report that includes a hypothesis, the data tables/graphs, and a conclusion that will be due next week.
