Seventh Grade - Keyboarding Applications

GRADE 7:  KEYBOARDING APPLICATIONS

The primary goal of this course is to introduce students to the fundamentals of basic keyboarding with emphasis on accuracy, correct technique and skill development. Students will acquire basic keyboarding skills with the use of keyboarding software, instructor dictation and keying from copy. Students will be introduced to the most recent software applications program, Microsoft Office 2007.  Students will format documents such as letters, reports, tables, etc.  Students will learn to adhere to legal and ethical issues that apply to safety and security on the computer.

 

Eighth Grade - It’s Your Money (Personal Finance)

It’s Your Money is a personal financial literacy course that is broken up into five major theme areas:  the economic way of thinking, earning an income, saving, spending and using credit, and managing money.   Students will learn basic financial literacy and money management skills when making decisions about their lives—both in the  present and in the future.  Personal finance is an interdisciplinary area where language arts, computation skills, economics, finance, reasoning and decision making are all brought together. 


Additonal:  Wiki added to 7th and 8th  grade coursework.  Students must respond to wiki discussion thread by the end of each rotation.
